What is autoimmune disease?

An autoimmune disease resulting in autoimmune disorders, is the term given to any set of autoimmune symptoms which is the effect of your immune system attackingyour own body (auto-self, immune-reacting against.)
An Out Of Balance Immune System causes autoimmune symptoms such as those experienced in MS, Rheumatic conditions, Asthma, Lupus, psoriasis, and many other chronic autoimmune disorders.   Biological and environmental toxins and autoimmune treatment with steroid affects your healing potential in an adverse way…

How does the immune system function normally?

The Immunity consists of two kinds of closely allied responses, both triggered by antigens:
1. Cell-mediated immune responses: T cells proliferate and directly attack the invading antigen.
2. Antibody-mediated (humoral) responses: B cells transform into plasma cells which synthesise and secrete specific proteins called antibodies (Abs) or immunoglobulins which bind to and inactivate a specific antigen.
T cells
T cells are divided into two groups: helper T cells and cytotoxic (killer) T cells. The helper T cells are then broken down into two further groups called TH1 and TH2 helper cells. Different sub-sets of TH cells specialise in the production of particular cytokines. These cells have very specific signalling functions and each type releases certain immune factors that help or hinder the immune response as required. One very important cytokine is interleukin 2 (IL2), which is needed for virtually all immune responses and is the prime trigger of T cell proliferation. Many opportunistic invaders have devised a mechanism of avoiding detection in the human body by taking up residence inside healthy cells. B cells are often unable to mount an antibody assault once the invader is hiding in a host cell. The immune system has evolved to deal with most of these types of invaders by harnessing the  power of cytotoxic T cells.  Cytotoxic T cells are told to become killing machines by TH1 cells so that they can kill any invader that has been able to get into a healthy cell. In order to get at the disease-causing organism hiding in the cell, cytotoxic T cells have to kill the host cell as well.

What goes wrong in Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system begins to attack the body, and more commonly affects women. Genetic make-up and a weakened immune system due to stress, poor diet, viral or bacterial infection,
oestrogen dominance, or environmental toxicity all contribute to the development of a compromised immune system which starts to attack itself. Autoimmune attacks result in severe inflammation and tissue damage.
Although each autoimmune disease involves different tissues and organs, the process that triggers the disease is the same.  T cells have an important role to play in autoimmune diseases. They are taught to recognise the difference between invading cells (‘non-self’) and our own cells (‘self’). However...
TH1 and TH2 cells can become imbalanced  When the TH1 and TH2 cells are in balance, health is maintained. If an excess of one or a deficiency of another occurs, disease sets in. TH1 helper cells release interleukin-2 and gamma interferon. TH2 releases interleukin-4, 6 and 10, which enhance the ability of B cells to produce antibodies.
If there is a reduction in the number or activity of TH1 cells then natural killer cell activity (the first line of defence against invaders) is decreased; infection and disease result, and chronic inflammation and eventually tissue damage is inevitable. When TH2 is not in balance, an excess of antibodies is produced, which causes increased inflammation.
There is often an imbalance of TH1 and TH2 cells in autoimmune diseases.

But What Really Causes Autoimmune disease?

Current research is finding ties to toxicity, the gut, hormones, genetics, and dietary factors. Research shows genes as the largest player in deciding who gets RA and who doesn't, but gut flora, hormones, environmental and dietary factors are thought to "trigger" these genes.
Once triggered, an inflammatory/immune response is initiated. The development of Autoimmune disease is thought to occur in stages. Once the immune response gets triggered, it's a slow build. You may carry autoantibodies and inflammatory markers but show no symptoms. Eventually, this leads to IA (Inflammatory Arthritis) and finally progresses to Rheumatoid Arthritis. The idea behind this is that something, whether you are genetically predisposed or not, triggers that immune system to start attacking the connective tissue, and  joints.

Gut Flora
Candida Infection
Virus and Post Virus
Parasitic Infection
Leaky Gut
Gluten Intolerence

So let's take a step back out of the research and ask what does this mean? This research supports the notion that gut flora and autoimmune disorders are linked. In some of the studies above, it was mentioned that your gut flora is affected by your genes as well as your environment. And if you're anything like me, you might be wondering...

Is Autoimmune Disease reversible?

Until Recently, We Thought Autoimmune Disease Wasn't Reversible
We're just beginning to understand why the immune system would attack healthy tissue... and in the beginning, we used to think that autoimmune diseases couldn't be reversed once the immune condition "turned on."

However, the latest evolution in autoimmune research indicates there might be another way...
Researcher Alessio Fasano, M.D. has been on the forefront of recent autoimmune and Celiac Disease research. In 2011, he published a paper titled "Leaky Gut and Autoimmune Diseases" introducing a new theory that suggests prevention and reversal of autoimmune disease is possible

He presents the idea that our pre-existing conditions must all exist together in order for autoimmune diseases to develop. They are:
1. Environmental and endogenous toxicity
2. A genetic predisposition to autoimmunity (it is now known our genes respond to our internal and external environment.)
3. An exposure to the environmental trigger or allergies(in Celiac Disease - that's gluten)
4. Increased Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut)

Research has demonstrated a new evolution of research implicating leaky gut as the key element to the development of autoimmune diseases like RA... and also begins to open the idea that we might be able to ACTUALLY turn off the autoimmune response in the body if we start with the gut.

How to Turn Off Your Autoimmune Disease
By addressing the underlying root cause of Autoimmune disease we can help switch off the exaggerated immune response

Autoimmune Protocol

  • Identify the underlying  genetic susceptibility, stress, infection, environmental toxicity and eliminate it
  • Identify any triggers or allergies and remove them
  • Identify nutritional deficiency and rebalance them
  • Identify hormone balance and take steps to tackle oestrogen dominance if necessary.
  • Heal Leaky Gut
  • Address Gut Flora
  • Balance the immune system.
  • Reduce inflammation using nutrients supplementation
  • Use specific nutrients to target the area which has been attacked by the immune system.
  • Address any emotional or psychological factors which may be exacerbating the immune response ( self esteem issues)

The Health Transformer Approach

In every case of Autoimmune Syndrome there is an underlying cause…something individual to each person.   If at one time you didn’t have these symptoms and now you do, obviously something has changed within your body which has led to Autoimmune disease being produced.   Your Autoimmunity are merely a symptom of the underlying cause.   To heal any Autoimmune disorder we need to address the cause.   In this centre we specialize in root cause diagnosis of any health condition using our state of the art Meta Health Scan.

Meta Health Scan

The Meta Health Scan is carried out utilizing the amazing diagnostic ability of Clinical Kinesiology.   It is reliable, accurate and reproducible. The scan will reveal the imbalances unique to your body, and how these are affecting you.   The scan reveals such issues as endogenous bio-toxicity, nutrient imbalances or deficiencies, sub-clinical infections, allergies and food sensitivities.  We also test for organ imbalances, hormone imbalance, and leaky gut.    Any abnormality in these areas will easily be picked up during the Health Scan. We also examine your entire lifestyle, sleep quality and any emotional/psychological contributors to your condition.

5 Step Protocol

1. Detect (In-Depth Evaluation & Advanced Testing)
2. Detox (Heavy Metals, Chemicals, Hydrocarbons, Bleaches, EMF)
3. Eliminate (Pathogens…virus, post virus, bacteria, parasites, fungi)
4. Rebuild (Tissues & Pathways)
5. Rebalance organs (kidneys, liver, etc.)

The 5 Steps to Restoring Health Protocol had been developed following many years of research and experience and utilizes food, nutritional supplements, herbal and energetic formula

In-Depth Consultation regarding your results.

Once this information is gathered we offer you an in-depth consultation to discuss your results, during which we discuss what has been revealed by the scan, where and how this has arisen, and how to remove or transform it, and reboot your system.   I believe it is very important for each person to understand what has been going on in their body, how the condition has developed, and how to unravel and resolve it naturally.   My intention is not just to teach you about your condition, but more importantly to empower you with understanding in order that you are able to take back control of your health.

Individually tailored Treatment Plan

Together we create an individualized tailored treatment plan for you.   This may include some or all of there: a gentle detoxification protocol, dietary changes, specific supplements, life style changes, exercise, etc tailored to your specific needs. In the majority of cases treatment can be implemented by you at home without the need for repeated visits to the centre; however Health Coaching and support is built in to this package to assist you through your treatment.
