1. What exactly is NLP?
Neuro - the physical senses we use to understand the world
Linguistic - the language of those senses (pictures, sounds, feelings, smells, tastes, thoughts)
Programming - how we process and make meaning of this information to form our beliefs, attitudes and behaviours
Starting in the 1970's, the creators of NLP, Richard Bandler and John Grinder were very curious about HOW the world's best therapists got results. They went about modelling them and distilling their excellence into what we now know as NLP. As such NLP helps people understand how they are creating the world currently and also crucially how to change it so that the change sticks.
2. How is NLP different to other therapies?
In my own experience of being on the receiving end of other therapies (and from my degree in psychology), the approach NLP takes is very different. NLPs approach is that we create problems and therefore can un-create them just as easily, when using tools that work with the Unconscious Mind. As NLP and Hypnosis are excellent for working at this level, they are the most powerful for creating quick, long lasting change. Other talking therapies tend to take a long time and frequently do not get to the root cause of problems and if they do, rarely clear them out and remove the problem as they work mostly with the conscious mind.
3. Isn't NLP just positive thinking?
No. Some people's pre-conception of NLP is that it just uses visualisation, affirmation and quick fixes that don't last - like covering up problems with a plaster but not solving the problem itself. THIS IS UNTRUE. All of the processes I use actually shift the thinking at the unconscious level, not just the conscious. This means that change work lasts for ever and without any need for positive thinking all the time. Personally I find it rather disrespectful and tiring to keep telling myself one thing when I actually believe another. I'd rather just change the belief and keep the change. For me, positive thinking is positively rubbish.
4. Is NLP manipulative?
If you take a problem and manipulate it into disappearing, then yes, NLP is manipulative. As with all powerful tools, they can be used with or without integrity. The tool itself is never the one manipulating, it is the one using it. Integrity is very important to me.
5. What’s the difference between Life Coaching and Breakthrough Coaching?
o Life Coaching focuses individuals on what they want in life and how they will go and get it. It helps build strategies. (Life coaching does not get to the root cause of WHY your life is not the way you want it. Without eradicating your limiting beliefs and negative emotions you will be struggling to maintain the strategy)
o Breakthrough Coaching does the same but also transforms repeating negative belief patterns to clears out the blocks to achieving, making sure that the core level self belief and motivation are aligned to what you wants, creating far more powerful transformational results.

6. How long does it take for the symptoms to change after completing a Breakthrough Coaching session?
You will experience the difference straight away. For some clients, all symptoms totally disappear immediately, for others it can take up to a few weeks for the body to fully restore itself to full health again. Either way, you will experience the major symptomology disappearing during the session itself.
7. Are you a Life Coach?
I don't like the term Life Coach as it covers such a broad spectrum of skill levels. I believe I am much more than a Life Coach.
8. What makes you different to other NLP coaches?
I spend the time needed upfront to thoroughly map out my clients patterns and bring it back to 1 or 2 root causes for everything. This makes my sessions very simple to understand, life pervasive in their impact and extremely thorough in ensuring the pattern is cleared out. I then finish sessions by setting goals with clients to ensure they change their behaviours and re-enforce the change work they have gone through.
9. Why do I cost more than other coaches and therapists?

NLP Breakthrough Coaching: How Does NLP Work?

NLP Breakthrough Coaching usually follows four stages;

Stage 1 - Initial Phone Conversation
Before meeting, I will have a phone conversation with you to assess whether I believe 100% I can assist you to get your result. I will also determine with you how long your session will be, based on what you are wanting. This agreed time will act as the maximum time you will be charged for (see NLP Breakthrough Coaching: Promise & Guarantee).

Stage 2 - Pre-Session Questionnaire
I will send you some searching questions requiring honest and thorough answers that will enable you to start the process of identifying what exactly you want from your Breakthrough, how you are going to measure success and what the key patterns of your particular issue are. The more clients put into this, the more effective the session will be. Your answers must be returned to me prior to our first session.

Stage 3 - 1:1 Breakthrough Coaching
The typical total coaching time is usually around 6 hours and I usually split the time over three sessions as follows:

Session 1
DISCOVERY...UNCONSCIOUS BELIEFS

• Establishing how you want your life to be and how will know you’ve got what you want from your Breakthrough
• Uncover the real underlying beliefs and motivations around the issue

Session 3
DESIGN YOUR DESTINY...ACTION

• Set goals for you to move toward to give yourself a real sense of direction, focus and purpose in your life...find your passion!

• Agree short term tasks to be completed shortly after the session to ensure all new behaviours are installed, and new empowering networks are created. (daily texting of intention and daily review for 14 consecutive days)

The success of these sessions is dependent on your ability to answer questions openly, to stick to instructions when resolving the issues and give 100% commitment to getting the result. Obviously, I can only show you the door, you have to walk through it.

Stage 4 - Post Session Homework

It is my clients’ job to give 100% to the tasking and to achieving the goals we set during the second session. I ask my clients to contact me daily by text to initiate tasks and goals, and to support your commitment to your new life choices.

The Principle Of Cause and Effect...every effect has a cause

The first principle I use when helping my clients with their stuck states is that of Cause and Effect. (also termed The Law Of Attraction) From this point of view we can look at every experience we have as a set of Effects, all of which must have Cause. Einstein said “every cause has an effect”.The more my clients are able to place themselves as the cause of their experience, rather than thinking that the stuck state just happened to them, the more power they give themselves to tackle any issue. If we can create, we can un-create.

In the past, some people have confused this concept with blaming yourself. In my mind, my clients have already wasted enough energy on their problem without loading blame on top as well. I use Cause and Effect to prompt my clients to examine what they are choosing to believe about their problem and make sure their beliefs about their power to resolve it are as powerful as possible.

For example - what causes depression? Is it a chemical imbalance or something else?

Traditional Medical model:
Brain Chemical Imbalance -> Depression > Negative feelings & Limiting Beliefs

Emerging Medical model:
Negative Feelings & Limiting Belief -> Depressing yourself -> Brain Chemical Imbalance

The first model (having had its research funded by the pharmaceutical industry) leads to a solution of changing the chemicals in the brain with anti-depressants. The up side of this is that some people feel a little better for a while. The down sides of this can include seizure, high blood pressure, insomnia, dizziness, flatulence and more, so not only does this solution not work, it has no integrity!

The second model states that there will have been a causal event, a root cause, before which the problem didn’t exist. This event will have caused some kind of shock to the system, leading to the mental, emotional, physical and chemical symptoms. This leads to the solution of identifying that first event and resolving the negative emotions and limiting beliefs caused from that event, thereby removing the need to depress yourself in the first place. So when you accept the fact that every cause has an effect, you empower yourself to being able to un-create your cause, and stop your effect-for good

Breaking News…“Illnesses” Don’t Actually Exist-It is a psychosomatic disorder, and YOU can resolve it.

Psychosomatic disorder does not mean imagined disorder. I am not suggesting your symptoms are a figment of your imagination at all, they are real. But just consider this…the fact is, “illness” is a process going on in your subconscious mind, a stuck state of being, which is being downloaded into your body.(soma) This revelation is fantastic news! One key factor that can either help or hinder the resolution of any disease creating stuck state is the diagnosis itself. The medical diagnostic process often hinders clients being able to be at cause, firstly by calling them patients (ie victims of disease) and by labelling their symptoms with a variety of complicated sounding names such as:
- Depression – Uni-polar Depression, Manic Depression (Bipolar Disorder), Major Depression, Atypical Depression, Psychotic Depression and Dysthymia
- ME - Myalgic Encephalopathy, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome
Negative belief patterns, and significant emotional events in our lives create an imprint on our mind/brain/psyche which can be seen on CT scan. This imprint dictates a process to the body/soma. (psychosomatic) Once diagnosed, clients change from doing a process to having an identity, a label that they carry around with them, a “disease thing” Unfortunately, this disease thing came along when it wanted to and although it’s symptoms can be quietened a little with drugs or psychotherapy, it will probably be around for ever - or at least until it wants to leave you alone.
There are obvious problems with calling a process a “thing”. Firstly, a process is easy to change, a “thing” isn’t. Secondly, many of my clients have used this “thing” as an excuse to hide behind or at the very least it becomes part of their identity (eg I am depressed, I have ME), further re-enforcing the problem itself by making it more real and giving it more power than it actually has. The stronger the reinforcement, the more stuck you become, and the deeper into the psychosomatic state you get.

Typically, support associations follow this medical model, not wanting to challenge/hurt/insult their members, they typically say that the “disease thing” is not their client’s creation, that they can not resolve it, they can only learn to cope with it and reduce the symptoms a bit with medication. For example, the ME Association states “Currently it is estimated that some 250,000 people in Britain are affected by this illness”. By making this statement they are totally disempowering their members, and making them believe they are helpless victims of these disorders. It puts the cause of the symptoms firmly outside the clients control or creation THIS SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE!
These problems need no name or identity, other than a set of things we are choosing (at some level) to do. A psychosomatic disorder always includes a set of beliefs that we are choosing, which makes our brain chemistry change, instantly creating molecular messengers to flow around our body, giving us unpleasant feelings. We call this disease. It affects what we then do with our lives (or not) and so the self-fulfilling and self-perpetuating cycle continues. Disease is truly a psychosomatic disorder, and as such, is under your control.

Transformational Life Event: How Does It Work?

Transformational Life Events usually follow four stages;

Stage 1 - Initial Phone Conversation
Before booking, I will have a phone conversation with you to assess whether I believe 100% I can assist you to get your result based on where you are in life and what you are wanting to create for yourself.

Stage 2 - Pre-Event Preparation
Based on our initial telephone conversation, we will agree what pre-work will be of most use for you to help you be as prepared as you can be. It may be in the form of questions relating to goals you want to achieve or issues you want to resolve. It could also include exercises to help you understand more about who you are and what that may mean for the event. This preparation work must be returned to me prior to the event.

Stage 3 - 2 Day Transformational Life Changing Event

• Transformational Life Changing Events are run intensively over 2 days - you will need to be ready for this

• It is structured so that you work exclusively on your own and 1:1 with me - there is some GROUP WORK

• You will work at your own pace during the event, completing relevant sections of a workbook to discover your goals and blocks, then seeing me to review your progress and clear out any blocks that may have presented themselves and move on to the next stage

• Numbers are strictly limited to a maximum of 5 participants per event, so you will receive all the personal attention you need to re-create your entire life - if that’s’ your goal

• The programme, though having a structure, will be geared around your needs and specific goals

• These events are extremely rigorous in their approach and do not leave any stone unturned. You really will get to work on everything you need to in order for you to get your result

The success of these events are dependent on your ability to commit yourself fully to transforming and creating a Life Change. As with NLP Breakthrough Coaching sessions, I can only show you the door, you have to walk through it.

Stage 4 - Post Event Homework
After the event, you will take away agreed items of “Homework” with deadlines. The purpose of these tasks are to help you integrate the changes you have made into real life. Sometimes this can involve changing the environment you place yourself in or changing the way you relate to people - for example a recent client is selling her house, changing her job, having new relationships and having new conversations with her parents and friends!

Throughout each stage, and after the event, I offer full telephone and email support to all of my clients at no extra charge. Clients often find this helpful to answer questions, review progress and help set even more ambitious goals

Life Coaching v NLP Breakthrough Coaching

For the last 30 years I’ve been helping people to sort out the biggest problems in their lives and create amazing lives for themselves. Untill 10 years ago my focus was on healing physical problems, but I hbecame increasingly aware of the huge part the mind has to play in both creating and healing disease, and in the quality of our life experience. I now use NLP Breakthrough Coaching.as a profoundly effective transformational tool for my clients.

When I started, my style and approach seemed very new in the world, well before Life Coaching became popular. When the term arrived a few years ago I was very excited that there was actually a label for what I did! Hurrah!

I have since heard many reports from people who’ve been to see a ˜Life Coach” and had mixed to disappointing or short lived results. Once again it is time for me to explain what I really do!

Life Coaching, it seems, can mean many things. Some coaches give advice, some do counselling, others do basic level coaching on making surface level changes and help you strategise around your problems, but very few create consistent, deep level change.
For any change to stick, it has to fit with what you believe about yourself deep down. If you don’t really believe you can do something, or in fact deserve it, you just end up TRYING really hard until your willpower runs out! Just think for example, why don’t diets work? We know WHAT strategy to use, but we don’t or can’t stick to it! Why?
From my point of view, if coaching doesn’t consistently produce long term results, then why do it?
